A father of two brothers who stood tall in the recent Port Moresby Tennis Open lauded the performance of his sons in the men’s singles and doubles divisions respectively.
Percy Ivuyo from Milne Bay congratulated his younger son Lavu Ivuyo for winning the men’s singles after defeating Robin Morova, who was part of Papua new guineaNG squash team in the 2015 Pacific Games.
The proud father was happy when older son  Tawagu Ivuyo, 28, won the men’s double last Sunday at the Port Moresby Racquet Club.
He said his sons started their tennis careers when the Tawagu was 10 and Lavu was six-years-old.
“The Port Moresby Racquet Club was a second home to them back then,” he said.
“They were once national reps in junior division in tennis touring the Pacific region.”
Ivuyo thanked the Papua New Guinea Tennis and Squash Federation for hosting the event to encourage athletes to have a taste of the sport.
“This is another way of promoting upcoming young people who aspire to be tennis players to take up tennis as their favourite sport,” Ivuyo said.
“For me, all I want is for my sons to carry on playing tennis, the sport they love.
“Me and my wife anticipated that they would win the tennis open tournament and they actually did.”
