MORE than 800 youths from the Urban Youth Employment Project (UYEP) began their job training with the volunteer workforce for the Fifa Under-20 Women’s World Cup last Sunday.
Project manager Tom Alley Gilis told The National that the youths were trained and mentored by Pacifica Limited, who was appointed by PNG Football Association.
He said the youths would be voluntarily working in 11 different departments as part of their job training with UYEP till December 3.
These departments include sales, marketing, VIP service, ticketing, customer care, spectator service, transport, team service and operations.
He said it was the first time in Fifa history to give this opportunity to marginalised youths to volunteer during the Fifa games.
He said the youths were well-trained and prepared for the event. They would be working in the four locations, Bava Park, National Football Stadium, Sir John Guise and PNG Football Stadium.
