Fiji officials here to discuss trade

OFFICIALS from Fiji’s Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism and the Biosecurity Authority will discuss with PNG officials trade issues which recently caused a friction between the two countries.
Fiji’s Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Siddiq Koya confirmed this in a letter his PNG counterpart Richard Maru. The teams will resolve the issue of biosecurity pathways and discuss other trade issues that can facilitate bilateral trade.
The delegation from Fiji includes Trade Commissioner to PNG Navitalai Tuivuniwai, chief veterinarian Dr Sian Watson, chief plant protection officer Nilesh Ami Chand and Ronald Prasad. The PNG team will include officers from Naqia, the Department of Trade, Commerce and Industry, PNG manufacturers of the Ox and Palm corned beef, Snax Biscuts and Trukai Rice, Department of Agriculture and Livestock.
They will meet on Monday and visit Hugo Canning Company Limited, Paradise Foods Limited and Trukai Rice Limited.
