OUTGOING chief executive officer of Ela Motors Takeshi Abe says the country is changing and the company has also changed a lot in terms of efficiency and quality of business.
Abe described his six years in the country as “exciting times” in which he had seen the company grow.
Staff in Port Moresby farewelled him as he returns to work at the Toyota Tsusho Corporation headquarters in Tokyo.
He will be replaced by Keiichiro Kuwabara, 43.
Abe came to Port Moresby in October 2011 and became chief executive officer in 2014.
Abe said he took over the company when the market was shrinking and when times were tough but he managed the company through it with the support of the staff.
Abe had witnessed the opening of the Badili dealership centre in 2013 and the Badili Yamaha Service Centre last year.
He also witnessed the opening of the Waigani showroom and Lae logistic centre in 2014.
He opened the Ela Motors parts centre in Wabag on Thursday.
In the past six years, he visited the Valindi Reef Resort in West New Britain, Sepik River in East Sepik, Mask Festival in East New Britain and drove to Pogera in Enga.
