THE Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited is focusing on education as part of its social inclusion programme, a company representative says.
Social Inclusion Committee deputy chairperson Mary Gigmai said this following company’s sponsorship of K10,000 to the national award literacy organised by the Crocodile Prizing Organisation.
“The sponsorship of K10,000 is given in recognition of emerging Papua New Guinean writers,” she said.
“This donation is part of the social inclusion programme that focuses on areas of education development.”
She said most non-government organisations played a key role in the lives of Papua New Guineans by educating and developing their talents.
Director Emmanuel Peni said the financial support made it possible for prizes to be awarded and a commemorative trophy.
He guaranteed the publication of the winner of this year’s national literacy competition.
The Crocodile Prize is a national writing competition established in 2010 by Phil Fitzpatrick and Keith Jackson.  The competition was to encourage creative and critical writing in the country and to provide access to home-grown literature.
