Five seats yet to be declared

VOTERS from five electorates had no representation in Parliament yesterday for the election of the Speaker and Prime Minister as counting is still underway.
Yet to be declared are the governors for Eastern Highlands, Chimbu and Southern Highlands, and open members for Kundiawa-Gembogl in Chimbu and Kandep in Enga.
Currently leading the race for the Eastern Highlands regional is PNG One Nation party candidate Peter Numu, followed by independent candidates Livingstone Fontenu and Simon Sia.
Triumph Heritage Empowerment (THE) Party candidate Michael Dua is leading the Chimbu regional seat followed by incumbent and People’s National Congress (PNC) man Noah Kool and John Kerenga Gul from the PNG National Party on third.
Counting for Southern Highlands is continuing with PNC man William Powi still in front ahead of independent candidates Joseph Kobol and Jerry Kiwai.
Counting for Kandep will resume once security reinforcements are sent to the area, according to the Police Commissioner Gari Baki.
