A FOOD manufacturing company in Lae has been awarded the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points certificate by the National Institute of Standards and Industrial Technology.
Institute assistant director (certification division) Timothy Kepou said Prima Smallgoods was nominated for complying with best practices in doing business.
He said it was a new concept in the country which the institute was trying to promote.
He said there were a lot of companies trying to adopt certain standards in their operations. But the certification goes a step further than just implementing best practices.
Kepou said it was a process which a third party came onboard to verify that a company had actually complied with international standards of best practices.
“Prima with few other companies have gone through the process with us,” Kepou said.
