FORMER Telikom PNG chief executive Peter Loko passed away yesterday.
He was holding the position of General Electric (GE) PNG country leader at the time of his death.
President and chief executive of General Electric (GE) Australia, New Zealand and PNG Geoff Culbert described him as a good friend.
“On Wednesday (yesterday), we lost our colleague and good friend Peter Loko, GE’s Papua New Guinea Country Leader,” Culbert said in a statement.
“I am deeply saddened by Peter’s death, and I speak for all of GE’s employees in extending our deepest sympathies to his family.
“Peter had tremendous pride for Papua New Guinea and showed unyielding passion for building a better future for its people.
“When he was appointed to his role in 2014, Peter was ready to make a difference.  He built deep relationships within the community and tirelessly championed the development of PNG’s capabilities with particular focus on resolving the country’s electricity and healthcare challenges.
“His commitment, humility and integrity was well-regarded by our customers, partners and employees. He will be dearly missed.”
