Four win award for training in in Sri Lanka

FOUR people have been awarded scholarships to attend a capacity building programme in Sri Lanka.
The programme, called Enhancing the development of small and medium industry (SMI), will be held from July 30 to August 9 in Yogykarta, Indonesia.
It is run under the Colombo Plan Secretariat for Cooperative Economic and Social Development in Asia and the Pacific.
The PNG delegation includes Nancy Lai, the joint executive director of the SME Group PNG Limited, Trade and Industry department officials Tine Buckley and Agnes Mortin, and AIDAN Retail’s Romios Mills Woki.
The course is to provide participants from the Colombo Plan member countries with an opportunity to update approach and knowledge on enhancing the development of the Small and Medium Industry from the policy and cooperation to in-field practices and SMI experiences.
Lai said: “At the end of the programme, we’re expected to have an understanding of the host country’s policy and best practices on the development and promotion of SMI, the role of local government in supporting, developing and promoting SMIs through one-village one-product, capacity building cooperation and partnership, research and development, micro-financing for SMI development and success stories.
