THE popular Goroka Show must live up to its reputation as one for the farmers of Eastern Highlands and other parts of the Highlands, says Fresh Produce Development Agency general manager Mark Worinu.
He said this last Thursday when handing over K10,000 to the Goroka Show Society as its sponsorship for this year’s show over the Independence long weekend.
Goroka-based FPDA is tasked with promoting the growing and marketing of fresh fruit and vegetables throughout the country.
It came into the limelight during the recent El-Nino drought, and subsequent ban on imported fruits and vegetables.
“Fresh Produce Development Agency has been supporting the Goroka Show for a very long time,” Worinu said.
“FPDA is pleased to support the Goroka Show and be part of the celebrations.
“We are proud to support the Goroka Show as most of the show goers will be our farmers, and therefore, we would like to extend our outreach programme at the show.”
Worinu also called on other organisations to come on board to support a “very important cultural event in the country”.
The show society thanked FPDA for the sponsorship and assured that the support would go a long way in holding a successful event.
