From boys to men

Letters

THANK you Malum Nalu and The National for running an article on Bugandi (The Weekender, Aug 25).
The article brought tears to my eyes. I was a student when ship captain Jack Amesbury (Lapun) and his deck officer, Dennis Murrell, were around.
Bugandi taught me discipline, commitment and persistence.
It helped me to enter university and prepared me for life.
I came out of university and got involved in mineral explorations in the early years of Porgera, Misima, Wau, and Simberi mines, which employ many young Papua New Guineans today.
Where did all these begin? Bugandi, a school that turned boys into men.
