Gerehu hospital provided bus shelter worth K25,000

A NEW bus shelter has been completed by Bank South Pacific (BSP) for the staff and patients of the Gerehu General Hospital in Port Moresby.
Group chief executive officer Robin Fleming handed over the facility, through the bank’s Group Risk Management Unit.
“BSP is honoured to support such projects as we are not just a corporate organisation. We also understand the hardships that everyday people go through,” Fleming said.
“Contributions such as this will improve the lives of our people.”
“More importantly, these projects are undertaken by our staff who are also a part of this great community.”
Hospital chief executive officer Dr Steven Yennie thanked BSP for choosing Gerehu General Hospital for the project.
“Our patients and caretakers wait outside the hospital under hot and unfavourable weather,” he said.
“The improvement will now allow for the sick to wait in a comfortable area to be served.
“The hospital serves the populated suburb of Gerehu and nearby suburbs, serving up to 200 patients daily.
“Gerehu General Hospital is also one of the referral hospitals in NCD,” Yennie said.
The project, which began on Aug 9, cost K25,000.
BSP staff volunteered to help out for three weekends to ensure the project was completed.
