Good news about Komal

Letters

On Tuesday, April 22, 2017, my radio was tuned into the broadcast of the first sitting of Parliament.
What made my day was the declaration by Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae of the new Deputy Speaker, Pesap Jeffrey Komal, the MP for Nipa-Kutubu.
Komal was first elected into parliament in 2012 as member for Nipa-Kutubu under the People’s National Congress banner.
He did exceptionally well for his electorate.
As a University of Papua New Guinea graduate, I was among more than 200 registered students of the UPNG Nipa-Kutubu Students Association who benefitted from the local member’s tuition-fee subsidy scheme between 2013 and 2015.
We also got money for the graduation gown.
