Group starts programme

THE Kokoda Track Foundation (KTF) started its Teach for Tomorrow programme on Nov 7 in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville and Gulf.
KFT is an international non-governmental organisation that has been providing sustainable aid and development to rural communities for over 10 years.
It has partnered with the PNG Institute of Education and the Department of Education earlier this year to embark on training partially-trained elementary teachers across the country.
A total of 330 elementary teachers have graduated from the training conducted in Northern in September.
KTF education manager Petra Arifeae said the training provided by KTF for AROB, Northern and Gulf was multi-grade mix mode training and was timely because the trainee teachers have been teaching on volunteer or baseline pay (25 per cent of certification level pay) for 10 years.
