THE Vanimo District Court last week Wednesday deferred a harassment case of National Broadcasting Corporation provincial director Richard Ali because the complainant’s husband is a magistrate in West Sepik, senior magistrate Sasa Inkung said.
Inkung said that the case was adjourned to Oct 24 to allow a neutral magistrate from the Aitape District Court to hear the case.
Ali, 56 and from Ulau village, Aitape district , West Sepik was accused of harassing senior NBC journalist Celina Korei in the newsroom last Friday. He is out on a K250 bail. It was alleged that Ali had harassed Korei over administrative issues.
Korei’s husband George Korei, a magistrate at the Vanimo District Court, also lodged a complaint against Ali for allegedly threatening him on Monday.
