Havora, Limbiye leave for Samoa


MISS Pacific Islands Abigail Havora and Miss Papua New Guinea Kellyanne Limbiye are scheduled to travel to Samoa today for the 2016 version of the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant (MPIP).
Havora will be handing over her crown to the new Pacific queen during crowning night in Apia on Dec 2.
The 30th MPIP will be held from Sunday and will be sponsored by the Samoan government, Samoa Tourism, Taumeasina Island Resort, Tanoa Tusitala Hotel and Koko Pacific.
Havora, the reigning queen, and 2016 contestant Limbiye will be accompanied by the committee of the MPIP PNG as well as stylist/designer Genevieve Igara-Faleva from Wantok Clothing and choreographer Nadya Parascos.
The PNG team will stay at the new Taumeasina Island Resort owned by a PNG company.
Chairman of the MPIP PNG Katherine Johnston thanked Havora for being the first Miss Pacific Islands from PNG and for being an outstanding ambassador for the country and the Pacific during her reign.
Deputy chairman chaperone for Miss Pacific Islands Molly O’Rourke expressed her gratitude to Havora, saying she had served time at the top with grace and had made PNG proud as the first Miss Pacific Islands queen.
Havora said she was not the same person she was when she joined the pageant a year ago.
Limbiye said that having Havora with her boosted her confidence.
