PORT Moresby has caught basketball fever, with the Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Centre having more visitors lately thanks to the Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea’s (BFPNG) Twilight Basketball programme.
This initiative brings together children aged 15 and under to participate in games of five-on-five, while participants 16 and over test their skills in games of three-on-three basketball.
The event has been a hit, with over 300 people getting involved every Friday night. Last week, BFPNG teamed up with the Port Moresby General Hospital’s Youth Blood Drive, aimed at encouraging youth aged 16-25, to embrace social responsibility and become lifetime blood donors supporting their community.
“It is about creating awareness of the importance of maintaining healthy life habits,” BFPNG chief executive officer Joel Khalu said.
