High Performance Sport PNG was delighted to be part of a recent Papua New Guinea Swimming Inc swim camp.
PNGSI held a weeklong camp in Port Moresby for developing swimmers in preparation for the Oceania Swimming Championships in Port Moresby next year.
The camp involved swimmers from the Boroko and Lae amateur swimming clubs and members of PNGSI based overseas.
In support of this camp, HP Sport PNG hosted talks on nutrition and recovery and ran the squad members through sport specific gym sessions
Strength and conditioning team leader Hannah Ilave said: “Our team from HP Sport PNG was thrilled to be engaging with swimming in their first camp leading into the Oceania Swimming Champs to be held here.
“We were excited that there were so many young individuals to develop a sport well, it needs to start with younger athletes. In this case, we were pleased to see the young group so eager to learn.
“We would like to see more of these swimmers in the coming months to physically prepare them for a massive opportunity coming with the Oceania champs.”
HP Sport PNG director, Aaron Alsop was encouraged by the integration of HP services to the camp, with a focus to the athlete’s development.
