Ill discipline costs Awani spot in PM’s 13

LAE Tigers centre Pasu Awani was dropped from the Papua New Guinea Prime Minister’s 13 team earlier this week after breaking team protocol.
Coach Michael Marum confirmed that Awani was sent home to Lae after he had failed an alcohol test.
Marum said it was disappointing as all players had been briefed on the expectations while in camp.
“It’s all about discipline and unfortunately Pasu did not consider the consequences of his actions,” Marum said.
He said the Kainantu man had worked hard to earn a spot in the PM’s 13 side but had thrown it away.
Awani had trailed with the PNG Hunters earlier in the year but did not make the final squad.
Awani was one of the Tigers’ best throughout the 2016 Digicel Cup season and helped the Morobe side its first title since entering the competition six years ago.
Marum said no replacement would be brought in meaning he would have to reshuffle his backline with Anderson Benford shifting inside to right centre and Konnie Bernard coming in on the wing.
The team had yesterday off but retrun to the field today.
