Improve skills: Envoy

THE country needs skilled people if the country is serious about going big on downstream processing, an envoy says.
Head of the Indonesian embassy chancery Johanes Made was commenting on the concern raised by a local entrepreneur that the country needed to start its own downstream processing of raw materials rather than relying on imported products.
“Comparing Indonesia with PNG, we have a big population and good market connectivity,” he said.
Made said they also have more skilled workers and human resources that made it easier for investors to operate their businesses because they did not have to look for workers.
“Here in PNG, I see that the country has a very small population and the market capacity is very small. And it is very far from the centre of growth, he said.
