Institute of Engineers to host conference

THE Institute of Engineers Papua New Guinea (IEPNG) will be hosting a conference in April next year.
Under the theme innovation and sustainability, the conference will encourage engineers to be innovative to help the nation.
IEPNG Port Moresby branch president Tony Morisause said they selected two broad names, innovation and sustainability, because they were coming together to bring innovative solutions to existing problems.
“The theme is broad so that it will allow people to be creative,” Morisause said.
“We need to come in a broader sense to be able to draw up more innovative ideas so that we will be able to filter them and distribute them to various development aspects,” Morisause said.
He said they had a conference committee chaired by himself and Women in Engineering chairperson Finkewe Zurenuoc.
“We have called for abstracts and have received 31 abstracts so far the deadline was last month,” Morisause said.
He said they are reviewing the abstracts and try to fit all of them into the conference.
Morisause said the conference would be followed by the annual meeting of IEPNG and they were expecting about 500 people at the conference.
