OUTGOING Investment Promotion Authority managing director Ivan Pomaleu is joining Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation to help coordinate policy preparation for the 2018 meeting in PNG.
He was farewelled last Friday after serving 20 years with the authority. He was managing director for 15 years.
IPA chairman Leon Buskens said the authority had achieved a number of milestones under Pomaleu’s leadership.
“When I first joined the IPA board, I was taken surprised by the manner in which the management takes serious business in the running of the IPA’s financial affairs. You can see that it is one of the best run and managed government entities in terms of management and control of very scarce operation resources,” he said.
“Pomaleu’s stringent management style has led to IPA being nominated as the best public sector organisation in the second year running this year.
“Pomaleu’s strong Christian principles are probably the mainstay of how he conducts himself. He is a strong mirror image of a stable family man.
“Among some of his legacies which will be left behind is the online registry system.
“IPA is one of the organisations that has clean audits up to last year. It again portrays the type of leadership and transparency and accountable government organisations must practise to achieve our goals.”
Buskens assured acting managing director Clarence Hoot of the board’s support.
Trade, Commerce and Industry Minister Richard Maru thanked Pomaleu’s family especially his wife for their understanding.
