MORE than K50,000 was raised to help a primary school in Lae from a unique race organised by Islands Petroleum Limited on Sunday.
Islands Petroleum lubrication engineer Raybon Tamegal said they received overwhelming support from business houses in Lae during the charity event.
“Over K52,000 was raised following the successful colour fun run,” Tamegal said.
“We are going through a tough economic time, however, we thank those who have supported us with their donations.”
He said that the National Gaming Control Board was the main sponsor as they contributed K20,000 followed by Traisa Transport with K5000 and Swire Shipping with K3000.
Tamegal said there were also other businesshouses and individuals that contributed money to help Milfordhaven Primary School.
“More than 1000 participants took part in the charity event and I thank everyone who chipped in to assist the school,” he said.
“The event started at 6.15am and participants were sprayed with different colour powder on their shirts as they passed along respective colour stations.”
