THE people of Jiwaka will stage the Waghi annual cultural show at Nondugl on Friday.
Show committee chairman John Koimo told The National in Mt Hagen that they planned it to coincide with the Independence anniversary celebration. Koimo said they were expecting more than 40 sing-sing groups to entertain locals and tourists.
He said tourists from Italy and Israel came last year and they were expecting more from other countries this week. Koimo thanked Brian Bell, Esco, Coca-Cola Amatail PNG and North Waghi MP Dr Fabian Pok for their support.
“The aim of staging cultural show is for the people to maintain their culture. Culture is our pride and we have to maintain it,” he said. Koimo said culture could be a very important way of attracting tourists and visitors.
The committee is expecting people from the neighboring Western Highlands and Chimbu to turn up.
