NORTHERN Governor Gary Juffa is looking forward to his second term in Parliament and hopes to be part of the next government coalition, although not necessarily as a cabinet minister.
Arriving in Port Moresby from Popondetta, the People’s Movement for Change leader said he would support the elected MPs camping in Eastern Highlands to form the next government.
“I will be more focused on the province and I’m not seeking a ministerial portfolio or anything like that,” he said.
“I will be supporting Sam Basil, Dr Alan Marat, Kerenga Kua, Belden Namah and those leaders in the Opposition team to form the next government.
“We will be working towards forming a new government that the people of this country deserve, a government that is going to protect the interest of PNG.”
Juffa said his focus would always be on Northern people.
“We have another five years to continue rebuilding the province,” he said.
“Northern was a broken province when I took over in 2012.
“But we have started the process of cleaning up the province, building it and making it a better home for our citizens.
“We want to provide a conducive environment for investors but we want the right type of investors, those who are genuine and who will respect our laws and culture.”
He polled 37,729 votes which was past the absolute majority of 37,179.
“This is only the beginning of a journey and there is much work ahead of us,” Juffa said.
“I would like to thank my fellow candidates, and invite them to work with me.”
