K-Rats upset Falcons in Suburban league clash

THE Marane K-Rats beat competition leaders Betari Falcons 6-0 in the top-of-the-table clash at Kone Tigers Oval last Saturday.
The K-Rats, who were in the second spot on 24 points after round 14 two weeks ago, got the much need two points to draw level with the Falcons.
Both sides are now on 26 points each with the Marane ahead on points differential.
In the other matches, third-placed 54 Bears beat Helifix Warriors 28-4 in the second A-grade match on Saturday.
The game between the K-Rats and David Terry’s Falcons was a brutal affair between the comp’s two best sides.
The Falcons gave the game away when Rats winger Albert Melo benefited from a fumble by the defence after a chip kick to cross for the match-winner.
The second half was a bruising affair with little skill but lots of intent.The K-Rats kept their cool to see out the fixture and move to the No.1 spot.
The competition heads into round 15 with four more rounds before the finals.
