K20,000 worth of goods stolen, says TIPNG

Transparency International PNG chairman Lawrence Stephen says more than K20,000 worth of goods were stolen from their newly-opened office at Boroko on Monday.
He said in a statement following the break-in incident that they would not allow the recent event to stop their mission to empower citizens to oppose corruption.
“We are a local non-governmental organisation fighting an important battle against destructive corruption and dependent on financial support from concerned citizens and donor agencies,” he said
Stephens claimed that the incident happened in the early hours of Monday when one of their personnel was also assaulted.
“While we cannot say for certain that the theft was a result of our work against the corrupt but we will continue to fulfil our mission of speaking up for Papua New Guineans, and fight corruption,” said Stephens.
