K9m on roads, bridges


THE Madang District Development Authority under MP Nixon Duban has spent more than K9 million on the construction of roads and bridges since 2013.
Sterry Ollie, the officer in charge of coordinating roads and bridges projects said in a report that K9.365 million was spent in various road projects in the district. This is made up of K6,105,000 (66 per cent) used in the Ambenob LLG, K3,260,000 (33 per cent) in Transgogol and K100,000 spent in Madang Urban.
Apart from the upgrading and maintenance work on feeder roads in the district, the district authority also funded the construction of new roads.
People living in Ward 23 of the Ambenob LLG located on a mountain overlooking the town can now use a road from Wanif to Lagaha.
The road connecting Maiwara, Alwag, Babura and Arbabau was also built to bring goods and services to the area.
Ollie said the roads and bridges construction enabled the delivery of Government services to the people.
