ENGA provincial police commander George Kaka has brushed aside allegations against him by candidates in the province over ballot boxes from Pilikambi in Laiagam-Porgera electorate.
Enga regional candidates Laken Lepatu Aigilo, Sandy Talita, John Mukin and Laiagam-Porgera open candidate Paul Paken Torato claimed that Kakas colluded with Governor Sir Peter Ipatas and tampered with all the ballot boxes from the Pilikambi local level government area.
They said that they wanted another person to take over as provincial police commander to oversee the counting and declarations in the province.
When contacted yesterday, Kakas said that polling at Pilikambi LLG was conducted on a Saturday and about 300 policemen and women from Southern Highlands, based at Laiagam station were deployed to 75 polling places in Maip Muli, Lagaip and Pilikambi LLGs to provide security.
He said that three security personnel were deployed to each polling place.
