Kaupa keen to work with Parkop to help district

MORESBY North-East MP-elect John Kaupa says he joined the Alotau camp because he wants to team up with NCD Governor-elect Powes Parkop and Moresby South MP-elect Justin Tkatchenko for the good of his electorate.
He said Port Moresby was a city and he would have to work with the governor for the best interest of Moresby North-East.
“Before I came down here (Alotau), I had a discussion with all my people in Moresby North-East, and they said go with Governor (Parkop) and serve us. That’s the reason why I’m here,” he told The National.
Kaupa is the second PNGNP MP-elect to switch camp.
Kikori’s Soroi Eoi was the first to leave the party led by Sinasina-Yongomugl MP-elect Kerenga Kua.
Kaupa said he wished to work with Parkop and Tkatchenko because their electorates shared a common border and Moresby North-East was a multi-ethnic society.
“It is made up of people from 22 provinces and 800 languages.
“We must work together to develop Moresby North-East which has not been properly developed over the last five years,” he said.
