Kuli Tvet centre sees 96 students graduate

A TOTAL of 96 students from the Kuli Technical Vocational Education Training (Tvet) centre in Jiwaka graduated with certificates last Wednesday.
The students graduated motor vehicle mechanics, basic computing, National Certificate (NC) 1 office administration, carpentry and joinery, and tourism and hospitality.
Centre manager John Lora said the Kuli Tvet Centre had been striving to train quality human resources in technical fields.
He said technical education was the foundation of the nation’s prosperity and success.
He said starting next year, they would introduce the National Certificate (NC) programme.
Lora said when they start offering the NC programmes there would be changes at the centre. By 2018, the NC programme would be fully implemented.
“We are happy to graduate these number of students from various fields and my appeal to the parents is not miss out on this opportunity because next year and beyond we will be introducing the NC programme in the Tvet sector,” he said.
“Tvet is giving people a second chance and I want to encourage each and every one of you to come forward and start taking up courses.”
Lora said when the NC programme was introduced, many changes would take place and students’ learning standards would be improved.
