Lack of funding hinders development

LACK of funding in the agriculture sector continues to hinder its development, says Agriculture and Livestock Minister Tommy Tomscoll.
He was addressing people at the opening of the Yapai Potato Project at Laiagam in Enga last Friday.
“For us to develop agriculture in Papua New Guinea, we need to lock funding,” Tomscoll said.
“Funding is the biggest problem in this country, in terms of allocation to the agriculture sector.
“It is one thing to appropriate in the budget, and say that I have put money in the budget for the agriculture sector, but it is totally different when you do not give money to the sector.
“It is a problem that we continue to face in the country and I hope that the Government will deliver the money it budgeted for.
