TWENTY-EIGHT corporate teams on Sunday took part in the annual City Mission Charity Golf three-man ambros at the Lae Golf Club over the weekend.
The event was sponsored by Brian Bell Foundation and K46,800 was raised on the day.
Team Motorist Discount Centre’s trio of Kyleen Anis Ambelye, Shavina Maras and Junior won the event.
The next top-four place-getters were Dunlop, Prima Smallgoods, Ela Motors and Bank South Pacific.
Lae City Mission general manager Reverend Bob Epperson told The National that the charity golf event was into its 10th year.
He said the funds raised would go towards the operation of the Lae City Mission, the boys new life-skills training programme, children’s crisis centre and Meri Seif Haus.
Epperson said their services were free and they depended on donations from private and corporate sponsors or from fundraising events such as the charity golf meet.
“The centre at 11-Mile is looking after 145 boys and is in the process of completing a new dormitory that will cater up to 160 boys,” Epperson said.  “Our children’s centre in town accommodates 15 children and we are building a new centre at 11-Mile that will host 500 children.”
“I am very thankful for the overwhelming support from the Lae corporate community,” the reverend said.
