Lae to stage a 20-day human rights campaign

THE Family Sexual Violence Action Committee (FSVAC) Secretariat Office in Lae will facilitate and coordinate a 20-days human rights programme for this year.
Chairman for FSVAC Zuabe Tinning said the event would start on Sunday at Eriku Oval to raise awareness on gender-based violence, human and children rights and responsibilities and services that were available to access when violence was experienced.
“FSVAC with various stakeholders will continue to conduct awareness for the next three weeks following Sunday’s awareness,” she said.
The theme for this year’s human rights programme is ‘From peace in the home to peace in the world: make education safe for all.
Tinning highlighted that FSVAC had targeted institutions in the city to carry out awareness during the 20 days.
She said a few business houses had donated food and equipment to FSVAC.
“Paradise Foods donated 100 cartons of Em Nau biscuits and 100 cartons of Tru Tru Wara to help FSVAC during the awareness.”
Tinning said that Laga Industries pledged to provide bouncy castles for children and the event would start at 1pm on Sunday and would end on Dec 10
