Lahi soccer competition resumes

THE Lahi Soccer Association resume its competition tomorrow after being suspended for three weeks because the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium was used for election counting.
Association general secretary Tinge Emuka told The National that the Papua New Guinea Sports Foundation had given them approval for the use of the facilities again.
Emuka said round one games had concluded and this weekend’s matches would be the start of round two of the season.
Emuka relayed an appeal by the association president Giob Ganaki to all the clubs that did not pay their registration and players affiliation fees to do so before the games on the weekend.
“It is very important for the clubs to pay up,” Emuka said.
He said the top two clubs from the both divisions would take part in the club championships tournament sanctioned by Football Federation PNG.
Clubs that did not pay their dues will not take part in the annual general meeting this month.
