Lakwaharu nines takes in 64 sides

A RECORD 64 teams are confirmed to participate in the annual Lakwaharu Cup rugby league nines at Sebore and Tubusereia villages on Sunday.
These teams are all from  the Southern region with organisers making it a point to anly accept teams and players  from from the National Capital District, Central, Gulf and Oro provinces.
The aim of the nines competition was to complement the Central Premier League and other local competitions. Lakwaharu 9s founder and director Micky Kone said pools A to H would be played at Tubusereia while pools I to O would be at Sebore.
Kone said that all the quarterfinals, semifinals and grandfinals would be played in Tubusereia.
He said the games would kick off at Sebore on Sunday. Kone thanked the Southern Confederate director Gwaibo Mairi, pictured, and PNG Rugby League referees’ boss Joe Peregua for assigning the referees to officiate during the tournament.
Pools A to H will be played on Monday at Tubusereia.
