A CLAN from Hides wants the Department of Petroleum and Energy to pay more than K26 million owed in grants.
The notice from the Middle Clan Kewapa Landowners Association Inc was delivered to department secretary David Manau yesterday by Ona Lawyers on behalf of the landowners.
Manau told The National that he received the notice after meeting with the association on Monday.
The association has been informed that the submission would be facilitated by the department and other entities.
Association treasurer Mek Meria told The National of their frustration over the delayed payments.
“The demands are about our benefits which have yet to be paid out to the association,” Meria said
“We are the primary landowners of where most of the key facilities of the LNG Project are located right now – PDL1 and PDL7.”
The association comprises clans from PDL1 and PDL7.
