Late doctor’s case adjourned

FOUR men have appeared in the Lae committal court charged with the murder of Angau Memorial Hospital paediatrician  Dr Alphonse Rongap in Lae in June.
They are Bryron Mark, 23, Maliaki Tetak, 21, of Bugang village in Bukawa, Morobe, Kamoping Quiling, 25, of Kulungtufu village in Finschhafen and Katsu Bafu Mera, 27, of Mawaning village in Finschhafen.
Rongap, 59, was from Andefuka village, Angoram in East Sepik.
He was allegedly shot on the night of June 25 at the Ass mambu market, along the Back Road in Lae when he was dropping off a friend.
Witness statements from police have been given to the four.
Tetak, Mark and Quiling have also been charged with robbery.
Senior Magistrate Jeremiah Singomat adjourned the case to give time to the four to go through the police statements and find a lawyer to represent them.
Singomat adjourned the case to Nov 24.
The four are remanded in custody at the Buimo prison.
