Kavieng MP Ian Ling-Stuckey says he and Namatanai MP Walter Schnaubelt can work with New Ireland Governor Sir Julius Chan if he is willing.
Arriving in Kavieng on Tuesday along with Schnaubelt to a grand welcome at the airport, Ling-Stuckey said: “Governor Chan must stop mourning over the loss of the Namatanai seat (by his son Byron) and start to work for the people of New Ireland,” Ling-Stuckey said.
“I appeal to the governor to adhere to the mining agreement and distribute the Lihir mining royalty directly to both the Kavieng and Namatanai district development authorities so we can start  implementing our respective district policies.
“The people of Kavieng have missed out on their fair share of royalties and I will not allow their suffering to continue.
“Governor Chan should make the most of this wonderful opportunity to work with both younger and energetic leaders to drive New Ireland forward.”
