Life PNG Care in Port Moresby is set to host its third annual charity fundraising dinner on Sept 29 after receiving K58,800 Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited (KPHL) on Monday.
Life PNG Care director Collin Pake expressed his gratitude to KPHL for their assistance, saying that the donation would go a long way in ensuring that the fundraising event next month would take place as scheduled to raise necessary funds for the centre.
KPHL general manager Ian Marru said that the presentation on Monday was the third time the company has assisted Life  PNG Care.
He said the company was pleased to assist because not only was the centre dedicated to educating vulnerable children but was also an advocate for them.
Marru said that KPHL was a national firm and the donation was a gesture of contributing to the welfare of the children who were by default, shareholders of KPHL.
The annual charity fundraising dinner is an important event in Life PNG Care’s calendar as this is when the organisation raises most of its funds to run its programmes such as its mobile education programme and family home care, as well to buy necessary equipment and materials.
Life PNG Care is a volunteer group that provides vulnerable children such as orphans and those living on the streets of Port Moresby an opportunity in life through education.
The group so far has enrolled 200 children in various schools throughout Port Moresby.
Pake and his family are also currently accommodating 45 homeless and orphaned children in their home.
He said Life PNG Care faced many challenges but he was thankful for organisations such as KPHL for their assistance and support in ensuring that these children were given a chance to grow up in a loving home.
