EMPLOYEES of a Chinese construction company are currently
undergoing a six-month adult literacy programme at the IBS University.
Carrier Development Centre assistant manager Donah Miskaram said they were approached by the project manager Kristin Chan of China Railway Construction Engineering Group (PNG) Real Estate Co Ltd with their need to learn and speak better English.
Adult literacy is a recently established programme at IBS University.
Miskaram said this was the company’s first year in PNG with giving the National Supreme Court a Facelift as one of their projects. “The first session
commenced on August 5
with seven out of nine participants attending, Miskaram
said.
“The participants include the likes of the general manager, the financial manager and those other key positions.
“The tenth participant is a
Korean who will join at a later date.
“The staff mostly need pronunciation skills to polish up on in order to hold successful business dealings.
“They also need to be able to communicate effectively on email as well and this programme they believe should help them a lot.”
