THE Papua New Guinea National Rugby League Competition grand final between Lae Tigers and Agmark will be controlled by a local referee at the PNG Football Stadium on Saturday.
This was confirmed by PNGNRLC administrator Stanley Hondina yesterday.
“PNG Football Stadium at Sir John Guise is the venue to stage the replay of last year’s grand final between the two top teams in the competition,” said Hondina.
He said Tigers and Gurias have been the two most consistent teams with a high standard on and off the field to make it to this stage.
Hondina said the PNGNRLC board and the PNG referees’ association would decide which referee and touch judges would officiate on the day.
“We will confirm this before the end of the week and the decision is final which two franchises sponsored by Snax and Agmark should not dispute or disagree.
“Our technical officials have proven themselves to the best of their abilities and should be given the job for the finals.
“This is part of the pathway that PNGNRLC through PNG Rugby Football League in partnership with NRL PNG in conducting workshops and clinics for our e referees and touch judges.
“Our crowd control and behaviour have improved drastically and I commend all the spectators and team managements and players.”
