EXXONMOBIL PNG managing director Andrew Barry foresees Papua New Guineans at the helm of managing the liquefied natural gas projects in the country in the future.
ExxonMobil PNG had delivered the first LNG project in the country with success.
He told a workshop attended by suppliers and contractors of the PNG LNG project that it had made a significant impact on Papua New Guineans who contributed one way or the other in the delivery of “this hallmark project”.
“We have around 2400 people working on the project  – nearly eight per cent are Papua New Guineans and 20 per cent are women,” he said.
He said the work force would sustain “our business into the future”.
“Our operations and maintenance trainees are incredibly impressive, and a talented young group of people who play a key important role in managing our facilities well into the future. We have seen the benefits of the commitment to investing into the training of our Papua New Guineans.”
