Lupari yet to confirm date of leaders’ summit

CONSULTATIONS are continuing between Chief Secretary Isaac Lupari and the governors to confirm the date for the national leaders’ summit.
Lupari told The National that they were negotiating to have the summit on dates that were most convenient to all the leaders.
He had announced earlier that the summit was rescheduled for Feb 27 and 28. It was originally planned for Feb 8 and 9 but was deferred because many governors failed to attend.
Responding to questions on the dates which would be affected by the National Petroleum and Energy Summit being scheduled for the same dates and at the same venue, Lupari said they were working with all the leaders to agree on the most suitable dates.
“We are consulting with the governors to agree on a date that would be convenient for them,” he said.
“Once that’s confirmed, we will make an official announcement. But definitely not at the end of this month as previously agreed.
“We are considering later in the month of March.
“And we hope we can get everyone to agree.”
