YOUTH coordinators representing the 17 districts of Evangelical Lutheran Church held a workshop at the Ampo church headquarters in Lae last week.
Acting director for ELCPNG youths Mathias Troeger said the aim of the one-week conference was to discuss issues facing youths and find solutions for them.
“Many youths are not actively participating in church activities and they tend to isolate from the church, therefore, we have to come up with innovative ideas to bring them back to be active members of the church,” he said.
Troeger said he wanted to revive ELCPNG youths by involving them in programmes such as Bible study, fellowships, sports and music to keep them avoid bad deeds.
“I will revive the youths of ELCPNG by next year because they make up the majority of the church’s population.”
He said committed leaders in each circuit would be engaged in training of trainers so that they could get back to their circuits and help youths.
