Madang celebrates ESP day

MADANG town came alive in red and green colours on Saturday during the celebration of the East Sepik provincial day.
Vehicles and bicycles carried East Sepik flags with people dressed in their provincial colour.
Wewak MP John Simatab gave K10,000 to allow the people to enter for free. Maprik MP John Simon also attended.
Simatab gave another K10,000 to assist in the tuition fees for Wewak district students attending the university.
The students and East Sepik people living in Madang featured cultural displays, singing to the Kundu beat.
Crocodile display and how the reptile was captured and skinned were also displayed which attracted tourists.
Joseph Ouyoumb from Ambunti in East Sepik said it was the first time for East Sepik people living in Madang to come together and celebrate their culture.
Paul Yapi encourage more East Sepik people to attend the event next year to promote their identity, create friendships
And also set a foundation to assist each other in terms of sharing ideas in businesses, education and addressing social problems among themselves. He said the celebration was a success.
