SIX of the 11-men Madang Under-18 team stranded after the completion of the national junior basketball championships two weeks ago, are still waiting for support to get back home.
The Madang U18 players are lodging at Kaugere’s Salvation Army Hostel after the completion of the championship because they had no return tickets.
Some of the players left with the support from their families and individuals such as basketball personality Karo Lelai.
Basketball Federation Papua New Guinea president Nick Daroa launched an appeal this week which saw a majority of the players return home except for the six players.
Daroa said Madang officials had assured BFPNG that all travel arrangements for the team had been taken cared of after local MP Nixon Duban had given them K10,000.
They had left for the championships after being told by the association their return costs would be met.
Duban blasted the Madang basketball officials for not getting their house in order before sending a team to the championships.
