MADANG police have security plans in place for a week-long national music festival in the town in two weeks.
Provincial police commander Superintendent Jacob Singura said 300 police personnel in the province now have a working plan for the festival.
He said plan covered the Christmas and New Year period.
The music festival means more visitors in town from December 11-18.
It is expected to feature some of the popular artists including Barike, K-Duman, Lista Laka, Shazzy, Demas Saul and Pati Doi.
Saul, who is helping a Madang team, said Madang musicians were rehearsing at his residence while others were with K-Dumen.
He said Dika Dai and other Port Moresby-based musicians were also rehearsing to perform in the grand festival hosted and funded by the Madang district development authority under chairman and Madang MP Nixon Duban.
Robert Kig Jr, from Duban’s office said the event would be managed by Tumbuna TV general manager Chris Seeto.
Kig said tributes would be paid to the late popular artists such as John Wong, Sandy Gabriel of Kales Gadagads and Mandawali.
