Magistrate warns NBC officer

West Sepik magistrate Sasa Inkung yesterday warned a senior officer of the National Broadcasting Corporation to cooperate with the courts.
Inkung told West Sepik NBC director Richard Ali at the Vanimo District Court to turn up for his court cases or else his K250 bail would be forfeited and he would be remanded at the Vanimo prison.
Ali had appeared in court from remand at the prison for breaching his bail by not appearing for his court appointments on three consecutive occasions.
The court issued a warrant of arrest  after he failed to appear for allegedly harassing his staff Celina Korei in the NBC office over administrative issues last month.
He also failed to appear before the court for allegedly threatening a  magistrate, George Korei.
Inkung said that Ali, 56, and from Ulau village, Aitape district, West Sepik, was now out on bail and would appear  before the court on Oct 24.
Inkung said that a neutral magistrate from the Wewak District Court in East Sepik would hear the case as George Korei was a Magistrate of the Vanimo District Court.
