FOUR new directors have been appointed to head Maigari Limited, an umbrella landowner company for the inland pipeline area of the Ramu Nickel project in Madang.
The four new directors are Terry Aimai (chairman) representing Naru landowners, Lemek Kuruwara (vice-chairman) representing Iguruwe landowners, Sun Bob (director) representing Usino and Liogo Tanmara (director), representing Ono landowners.
The Inland pipeline covers the portion of 135 kilometres slurry pipeline starting from Ramu bridge in Usino-Bundi to Tapo in Raicoast along the Madang-Usino highway which runs from the Kurumbukari mine to the Basamuk refinery.
The new directors were appointed following the expiry of the terms of the previous directors. Acting secretary Albert Tobe, who oversaw the appointment of the new board, said the change had to be done because of pressure from shareholders who were mostly rural villagers in inland pipeline areas of the project.
